Improved energy efficiency

While today’s vinyl replacement windows have the beauty and profile of freshly painted wood windows, they are also engineered to provide much improved energy efficiency over old wood or aluminum windows. Vinyl itself is a strong performer to reduce thermal transfer through the frame. Further, vinyl replacement window and patio door frames are engineered with numerous trapped and sealed air spaces to further improve insulating qualities. For better seals between the frame and window sashes, we use advanced weather stripping materials to greatly reduce the chance for air or water infiltration.

Superior then combines the strong frame performance with advanced insulated glass technology, where two panes of glass are hermetically sealed to ensure a trapped air space that provides good insulation performance. Further, we also use warm edge glass spacer technology – the material that is used to separate the glass panes – to reduce thermal transfer around the insulated glass unit perimeter. Finally, we also enhance energy saving performance by using Low-E3 glass as standard in all of our vinyl replacement windows, aiding in both thermal insulating performance and even more significant in reducing solar heat gain, which is so important to reduce energy consumption in our air conditioned Southwest homes. We can even go one step further, by adding argon gas fill to the insulated glass unit. Argon gas is an inert gas that has better insulating properties than plain atmospheric air. In total, Superior Vinyl Replacement Windows are designed for both beauty and outstanding improved energy efficiency.

Solar heat gain control

Superior designs and builds windows and patio doors to perform well in our tough solar Southwestern environment. By using the best Low-E3 glass as standard offering in all of our products, we greatly reduce solar heat gain that has a big influence on air conditioning power consumption. Our Low-E3 glass provides a triple-coated protective solar filter using the latest technology that deposits microscopically thin coatings of a silver metallic oxide that is virtually invisible. Only a slight tint hue is detected, allowing ample daylight to enter your home, without the dark environment created by heavily tinted glass. This cutting-edge glass technology actually acts as a solar filter to greatly reduce ultraviolet and infrared intrusion that creates the heat buildup in your home.

Reduce outside noise

Superior Vinyl Replacement Windows and Doors contain engineered properties that enhance sound deadening properties over old window systems. Vinyl frames contain trapped air baffles that reduce sound transmission. When combined with insulated dual pane glass, sound transmission is further reduced through the glass area. If outside noise control is a particular challenge for your project, we have ways to further reduce noise transmission by altering the glass used. The next step in noise control is to use differentiated glass thicknesses – where one glass pane is thicker than the other – which further disrupts sound wave transmission. To go one step further, we can use one pane of laminated glass in your insulated glass unit, which combines two glass sheets with a laminated, clear non-glass interlayer that disrupts noise transmission even one step further, while also blocking virtually all UV light transmission to help protect from interior fading.

Security

All Superior Replacement Windows and Doors go through rigorous testing procedures, including test protocol for forced entry resistance. Our windows must comply with set industry standards or they don’t go to market – period. Locks and latches are engineered to help prevent intrusive access from the exterior. Horizontal and vertical sliding windows, when closed, have an integral sash meeting frame interlock that further disrupts intrusive access from the exterior to the interior locking devices. If you want to explore going one step further in security protection, consider using laminated glass. Laminated glass uses two glass panes bonded by a high-technology non-glass interlayer (much like your car’s windshield), which provides a substantial impact barrier when intrusion is attempted by breaking through the insulated glass unit. While the glass will shatter on aggressive impact, the laminated interlayer is difficult to breach, which may then further discourage a break-in attempt.

Reduce interior fading

With Low-E3 standard in all Superior Replacement Windows and Patio Doors, its performance characteristic is to reduce ultraviolet light, which is a major contributor to interior fabrics and furniture fading. Low-E3 glass blocks up to 80% of UV light transmission. While this is significant in protecting your furnishings from fading, also be aware that fading is affected by the total light spectrum, and you can’t fully block fade damage without also eliminating visible light – not a very desirable home interior feature! For ultimate UV light blockage, the use of laminated glass can increase blockage up to 99%+ performance if you need that optimal fade resistance performance in certain areas of your home.

Low maintenance

Superior’s solid vinyl windows and doors are virtually maintenance-free. The vinyl frames won’t peel, rust or rot, and don’t require painting or finishing. Simple, periodic care and cleaning is all it takes to keep your Superior windows looking great for years.

Resale value

Vinyl replacement windows from Superior are one of the best home improvement investments you can make. The latest edition of Remodeling Magazine’s annual Cost vs. Value Report shows that, on average, homeowners recovered over 72% of their investment in vinyl replacement windows at resale. That return is among the highest of all types of home improvements covered in the study, even surpassing traditional favorites like kitchen and bathroom remodels at 64% and 61%, respectively. Add to that the monthly savings on your energy bill that new windows from Superior can provide, and you’ll be hard pressed to find a better value for your home improvement dollar.

Durability

Superior’s been manufacturing quality window and door products for over 50 years now. That’s a durable company, and we build our windows and doors to be equally durable. Our vinyl window and door frames are built with specially formulated PVC compounds containing impact modifiers, color stabilizers and UV inhibitors to produce vinyl components that will provide years of worry free service. In addition to exacting compound formulation and extrusion methods, all Superior vinyl window and glass components are subjected to rigorous testing under a variety of industry standards for strength, security and durability. But we don’t just talk about durability; we back it up with an industry-leading Full Lifetime Warranty.

Replacing old metal windows in stucco

Superior offers the ideal vinyl replacement window frame to avoid breaking stucco on your home in the replacement process. Broken stucco adds labor, along with the tough job of matching your home’s stucco texture and color finish. Your replacement contractor is trained to remove the old metal window vents and fixed glass, while also cutting away any metal frame that spans the daylight opening. The perimeter metal frame of your existing window is left intact in your home’s stucco. Next, we have engineered a Superior vinyl replacement (or patio door) with an attractive frame flange that is designed to cover the old frame when inserted into the window opening. With proper attention to fastener placement and sealant use, your new Superior Flush Fin vinyl replacement window or door is prepared weather-tight and ready for interior trim and finishing touches. This is just one more way that Superior is adapted to the unique needs of our Southwest market, making us the perfect choice for your replacement project.

Replacing old wood windows

Superior offers the perfect vinyl replacement window frame adaption to accommodate old wood window replacement, saving significant labor savings and disruption to your home. We call it a ‘blockframe’ configuration, which allows your replacement contractor to only remove the old wood window sashes, leaving the wood window frame intact in your home. Removal is from the exterior. The new block frame Superior vinyl replacement window, measured and built precisely to the fraction of an inch for your opening, is then inserted, fastened, sealed and insulated into your existing wood main frame. To accommodate the slope sill of your existing wood frame, we add a slope sill adapter that efficiently closes the gap between your new vinyl replacement window and the existing sill for an attractive, weather-tight install.

Matching existing metal windows

There are times that you need to replace only one or a few windows in your home, and you’re challenged to replace an existing aluminum window or patio door to more closely match your existing window and door frames. With Superior Replacement Aluminum windows and patio doors, you’re in luck. We manufacture quality aluminum replacement products in the popular frame colors that are prevalent for existing aluminum windows. Your replacement contractor will use methods to remove and replace your existing windows with a Superior aluminum replacement window measured and built precisely to fit your specific openings, allowing for a better weather-tight seal and finish. In the end, you get the look you want, with a quality Superior aluminum replacement window or door that’s guaranteed for life.

Hardware finishes in choices to match décor

When selecting new Superior vinyl replacement windows and patio doors, be aware that you can also select operating hardware, including locks and door handles, in décor-matching finishes. By selecting the Superior Ultima replacement window series, you have the choice of 5 popular metal finish options, including: bright or brushed nickel, bright or antique bronze – and even dark bronze. All Superior patio doors also provide optional hardware upgrade finish options. Visit our Hardware Options page to see which window and patio door finish enhancements are right for your home’s interior. Standard painted hardware finishes match the vinyl frame color.

Easy access to clean exterior glass

If your home has existing vertical sliding windows that you’re looking to replace, give careful consideration to select Superior double-hung vertical slider vinyl replacement windows. Our replacement double-hung windows are engineered so that both upper and lower operating sash can unlatch and tilt inward, allowing for easy cleaning access to your new window’s exterior surface. It’s just one more way that Superior vinyl replacement windows make great sense for your replacement project.

Desire for maximum view, minimum frame

Your home’s style emphasizes the view, not a heavy-profile window frame. When replacing your windows, you want to maintain that narrower frame look. Fortunately, Superior offers a quality vinyl replacement window in its Cornerstone Series that has a narrow frame profile as compared to other heavier-framed vinyl replacement windows, allowing you to achieve that greater glass area that you want to achieve, while also greatly reducing energy loss with a more efficient vinyl replacement window. Accessibility for the disabled

At Superior Windows, we’re determined to do all we can to provide convenience and independence for those with mobility impairments and other physical challenges. All our patio doors can be custom sized to provide wider openings for easier wheel chair pass-through, and our swinging patio doors come standard with stylish but functional lever hardware that operates without the need for complicated grasping and twisting. We even offer a complete line of vinyl casement windows that comply with all FHA, ADA and ANSI accessibility requirements.

Desire for a custom exterior frame color

Sometimes it seems Henry Ford has been reincarnated as a vinyl window maker: “You can have any color you want, as long as it’s white or beige.” Well, move over Mr. Ford, because Superior has broken the color barrier. Through the use of cutting edge light and heat reflective coating technology, Superior is able to offer a wide variety of exterior colors to compliment your home’s exterior architecture and color scheme.

Desire for more decorative glass options

Superior offers a huge assortment of decorative glass enhancements that help you customize your new windows and doors to get that “just right” look.  From multiple patterns of obscure privacy glass to leaded glass and custom grooved patterns, Superior has just the right option to suit any taste or design style.

Operable window choices beyond the basic sliding window

Tired of all those Plain Jane, sliding windows? Superior can help break you out of the rut with a host of additional styles designed to spice up any home. To create the traditional look of grand colonial mansions, try adding double hung windows to your home. They look great and the sashes tilt in for easy cleaning. Or, to really raise the bar on style, explore the European design of our Tilt Turn windows that can tilt in at the top for a little fresh air or swing in like a door for maximum ventilation.

Options to enhance the design appeal of a large room

If you have a space in need of some style upgrades, try adding a Superior Bay or Bow window to the room. Available in multiple configurations to fit a variety of opening sizes, Bay and Bow windows not only add a touch of class to the room, but also enhance your home’s curb appeal.
